Before the construction began, even before the old house was demoed, we decided to pressure wash and stain a dock. For the staining job, we chose Purdy brushes.
According to Purdy’s website, Purdy was founded in Oregon in 1925 and has been producing top quality paint applicators ever since. All Purdy professional brushes and rollers continue to be made here in the United States. Purdy employs over 100 brushmakers in Portland, Oregon, handcrafting brushes with the same care they’ve used for over 80 years – one at a time. The average length of service at the Purdy facility in Portland is almost 12 years.
I contacted Purdy and asked them if brush components were all USA made or if any parts were imported for final assembly in the USA. They responded quickly. Below is their response:
Thank you for your inquiry with Purdy.
We don’t import any parts from outside of the U.S.A. The only Purdy products not made in the USA are the 9-W roller handle. We make roller sleeves in Deshler, OH and Portland, OR and all brushes are done in Portland except the “Clearcut” which is built in Crisfield Maryland.
Best of success with your projects. If you have any additional questions, please ask.

FYI… Wooster Brushes are good as well, assembled in the USA, but use global materials.
